Divine Street UMC is a Lighthouse Congregation
At Divine Street UMC, we are committed to living out our discipleship as a part of the North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church. We are proud to be a Lighthouse Congregation, aiming to offer a safe harbor to those impacted by the disaffiliation process or who are looking for a new United Methodist Church to join. We are committed to the five key elements of Lighthouse Congregations:
Worship: We provide worship opportunities both online and in person, so people near and far are able to be welcomed and engaged within the worshipping life of Divine Street UMC.
Discipleship: At Divine Street UMC, we seek to create space for individuals to learn and grow, whether online or in person. Fellowship opportunities, Bible studies, and prayer groups are open and available for those who wish to join us in person or online.
Mission: We continue to invite fellow United Methodists into opportunities to serve through hands-on ministries. Divine Street UMC continues to maintain ongoing partnerships that allow for hands-on service and mission, such as volunteering in food distribution with DUMA (Dunn United Ministerial Association), serving with Backpack Buddies, or through our preschool program. These ministries make a difference in the community and share the love of God with others.
Sacrament: At Divine Street UMC, Holy Communion is offered at least one Sunday a month, but may also include invitations to communion outside of traditional worship, such as mid-week gatherings.
Pastoral Care: We are committed to offering pastoral care in the form of hospital visits, gatherings at local eateries, and finding other ways to be available to those who are in need of care. We live this out in a variety of ways, such as visitation ministries, meal trains, and prayer groups.
We know many faithful United Methodists in this area have recently lost their church homes through disaffiliation. If you are looking for a safe harbor, you are welcome here. You have a place to grow and serve at Divine Street UMC, as we seek to offer better life to those in Dunn, Harnett County, and beyond.
You are welcome here.
